RoboKeeps is a small independent site with a narrow purpose: to help you work out which home robot specifications your home actually requires, so you can stop paying for numbers that will never affect your floors.
Why it exists
The robot vacuum category has an unusual problem. The specification manufacturers advertise most prominently — suction in pascals — is the one that correlates least reliably with cleaning performance. The figure has roughly tripled in three years while the things that actually determine whether a machine cleans well, such as brush design and navigation quality, are harder to compare on a listing page.
The result is a market where it is easy to spend considerably more and get a worse daily experience. Our calculators exist to convert your specific circumstances — floor type, pets, square metres, furniture clearance — into the specifications that follow from them.
What we publish
- Calculators for suction requirements, payback period, runtime versus floor area, physical fit, and robot mower sizing. All run entirely in your browser — nothing you type is sent anywhere.
- Guides that explain what each specification means and which ones can safely be ignored.
How we reach our figures
Suction bands are derived from published manufacturer specifications and independent testing consensus on where additional pressure stops producing measurable improvement on each floor type. Coverage rates are based on typical real-world throughput rather than advertised runtimes, which are measured on bare floor at the quietest setting. Every calculator states its assumptions alongside the result.
These are estimates. They are intended to narrow a shortlist, not to replace reading a review of the specific model you are considering.
What we do not do
We do not accept payment for favourable coverage, and we do not rank products by commission rate. Our suction calculator frequently tells people they need less than they were planning to buy, which is bad for affiliate revenue and correct for the reader. That trade-off is deliberate and is the reason the site is worth reading.
We also do not claim hands-on testing we have not done. Where we describe how a technology behaves, that reflects published specifications and established independent testing rather than our own laboratory.
How the site is funded
Everything here is free with no sign-up. Some links to retailers and manufacturers are affiliate links, clearly labelled AD · PARTNER, and if you use one we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.
